Where the design comes from

Summits and Contour Lines · Edward y Josiah Wood Whymper, Johann Georg Lehmann, Guillaume-Henri Dufour, Hermann Siegfried, Franz Ludwig Pfyffer · 1762-1911. El alpinismo y la cartografía de montaña se inventaron a la vez y casi con las mismas manos: gente que subía para medir y grababa después en madera lo que había visto. De ahí salen el piolet, la cordada, la hachura que ennegrece la ladera y la pirámide de cuatro aristas del Cervino. Y de ahí sale, con muy pocos intermediarios, casi todo lo que el cine llama «montaña». Read the whole story.
