Where the design comes from
Moby Dick y el cachalote blanco · Herman Melville (1819-1891); el libro de Jonás, anónimo · 1851; el libro de Jonás, siglos V-IV a. C. (datación discutida). En 1820 un cachalote hundió de verdad un ballenero, y treinta y un años después Melville convirtió aquel accidente en la novela que fijó cómo imaginamos una ballena. De ahí salen el arpón, la pata de marfil y el capitán obsesionado que siguen apareciendo en películas donde no hay ni una gota de mar. Read the whole story.
