What this hoodie is like

It is a Gildan 18500: 271 gsm, a two-layer lined hood with a matching drawstring and a kangaroo pocket at the front. It is the only garment in the catalogue with a hood, the one that handles mid-season on its own and goes under the down jacket in January. It is also, by some distance, the one that most often ends up being given as a present.

The kangaroo pocket and the drawstring take chest away from the drawing: the print sits above the pocket, on the top half, which is the continuous surface the garment has. It is a real limitation and better said before than after: if what you want is to see the whole design, the crew neck sweatshirt gives it to you with nothing in front, and the print gives it at wall size.

Inside out, at 30 °C and dried on low. The hood and the cuffs take a good deal longer to dry than the rest, and rushing them with a hot dryer is exactly what ends up shrinking the ribbing. It goes from S to 5XL. In white it leans towards off-white, because of the cotton and polyester blend.

The whole raven, in profile and perched: the body a teardrop, the folded wing marked with three arcs of feathers, the head raised with the long beak out front, the tail a striped fan and both feet with the toes spread.

Where this drawing comes from

The bird alone, without the bust or the room. In the poem the raven does nothing: it comes in, it perches and it answers. The scenery is what is left over.

«The Raven», which Poe published in the New York Evening Mirror on 29 January 1845. The bird comes in through the window, settles on a bust of Pallas above the door and always answers the same thing: «Nevermore». That it is the only word it knows how to say is exactly what makes the poem work.

Why is the raven on its own, with no room around it?
Because in the poem the raven does nothing: it comes in, it perches and it answers. The bust, the door and the chamber are scenery. What stays is the bird and one word.
Where does the drawing sit, with the pocket in front?
Above the kangaroo pocket, on the upper half of the chest, which is the only continuous surface on the garment. If you want it whole and with nothing in front of it, look at the crew neck sweatshirt or the print of the same design.
Is it really warm or is it a thin sweatshirt?
271 gsm and a hood lined in two layers: thin it is not. What we cannot tell you is how much warmer it is than the crew neck one: Printful publishes the weight of this one and does not publish the other, and we are not going to invent the difference.
How long does it really take?
