Where the design comes from

Sparta and Thermopylae · Heródoto de Halicarnaso (c. 484 – c. 425 a. C.); versión castellana de Bartolomé Pou (1727-1802). Simónides de Ceos para el epitafio; Jacques-Louis David (1748-1825) para la imagen que fijó la escena. · c. 430 a. C. (la batalla, verano del 480 a. C.). Todo lo que sabemos de las Termópilas cabe en unas veinte páginas del libro VII de Heródoto, y buena parte de lo que creemos saber no está ahí. Aquí separamos lo que escribió un griego del siglo V de lo que inventaron un dibujante de Maryland y un director de Wisconsin.
