What this sweatshirt is like

It is a Gildan 18000 with a crew neck: no hood, no drawstring, no pocket. It is the classic sweatshirt, the one you put on over a T-shirt and under a coat, and the only one of the three warm layers that gets through an office without looking like something you wear at home. The collar, the cuffs and the waistband are 1×1 rib with elastane, so they go back to shape when you take it off.

With no kangaroo pocket and no drawstring, the chest is clean from top to bottom. Of all the garments in the catalogue, this is the one where the drawing shows whole, with nothing in front to break it up: if the design has fine detail —a spiral, a seal, a loom—, this is where you can see it without having to blow it up.

Half cotton, half polyester: the blend is what keeps it from losing its shape after a whole winter of washes. Inside out, at 30 °C and dried on low, because strong heat is what shrinks the ribbing. It goes from S to 5XL. In white the fabric leans towards bone rather than pure white; that is the blend, not a printing fault.

Where this drawing comes from

The twelve axes are not a decorative frieze: the trial is to send the arrow through the eye of all twelve lined up. Take them away and what is left is any old bow.

«Odyssey», book XXI: the trial of the bow and the twelve axes, which not one of the suitors even manages to string. The shape is that of the composite bow with recurved tips that appears on Minoan seals and on black-figure pottery; the axes are the Cretan double labrys from Knossos.

Sizes: measurements, where each one is made and what it costs

Measurements of the garment, not of your body. Take one that fits you the way you like, lay it flat and measure: the width from seam to seam below the sleeve, and the length from the highest point of the shoulder down to the hem. These are the ones the factory itself publishes, in centimetres.

Sizes 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL cost more because they use more fabric and the factory charges us more for them: we would rather say so here and stock them than not have them. The regular sizes all cost the same.

What you ask us before buying

Why are there twelve axes under the bow?
Because the test in book XXI is not about stringing the bow, but about sending the arrow through the eye of the twelve axes lined up in a row. Without the axes the drawing would be just any bow; with them it is one specific test, with its own specific number.
Does it have a hood or a pocket?
Neither of the two: it is a crew neck and the chest is clean. If you are after a hood and a kangaroo pocket, the same design is there on the hoodie, which has a two-layer lined hood with a drawstring and a kangaroo pocket at the front.
Does it shrink or lose its shape?
Not much: it is half cotton and half polyester, and that blend is exactly what takes the washes without going baggy at the cuffs. What does ruin it is a hot dryer, so dry it on low or straight in the air.
How long does it really take?
De 3 a 4 working days, printing and shipping included — the same lead time the rest of the site gives, because there is only one. How much is shipping?

Why do some sizes cost more?
Because they use more fabric and the factory charges us more. We would rather stock the large sizes and say so in the table than not have them. The regular sizes all cost the same.
